A 16-year-old student was arrested after a loaded, stolen handgun was found in a backpack. The backpack was allegedly left outside a school by the 11th-grade student. A school resource officer noticed the student entering the school with two backpacks, then leaving with one. The officer reviewed surveillance video and saw the student discard the other backpack near a loading dock.

The discarded backpack contained a loaded handgun that had been reported stolen. The gun's owner, a woman from Texas, reported it stolen in March.
