Tropical disturbance in the Gulf could become a storm by Friday. Here’s what forecasters say

From Baton Rouge, La.: Forecasters are monitoring a system that may develop into a storm. The National Hurricane Center has assigned an 80% chance of development within the next 48 hours and over the next seven days.

This system is currently organizing over the Gulf. Satellite imagery shows increased thunderstorm activity.
