Governor Andy Beshear has expressed concern over a rising number of highway fatalities. The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has reported 402 highway deaths as of early August. This reverses a trend of decreasing fatalities over the previous three years.

The transportation cabinet is urging drivers to take safety precautions, including buckling up and driving sober. A "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" campaign has been launched, running through Labor Day.

Further details on the increase in highway fatalities and the campaign are available from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet. The cabinet's efforts aim to reduce the number of fatalities on highways.
