Voting by mail
Excuse required — eligible categories include: 60 or older; hospitalized/ill/physically disabled (or their caretaker); outside your county during the entire early-voting period and Election Day; full-time student (or spouse) outside the county; military/overseas; nursing-home resident outside the county; jury duty; candidates and election officials; religious holiday; permanent absentee list. Requests accepted 90 to 10 days before the election — the SOS calendar lists Saturday, October 24, 2026 as the absentee ballot request deadline. The voted ballot must be returned BY MAIL and received by the county election commission by close of polls on Election Day.
